Metal detecting UK, new permission and possibly an aircraft dial?!

Hello all, I only got back from my holiday at 11pm last night and was totally knackered today but I'm never one to pass the opportunity to get out detecting so I went down to my local pasture permission.

Whilst setting up I noticed the farmer on the adjacent field bailing a load of hay and thought I would go have a chat and try secure permission on his field. Well as soon as I set off the walk to him he was off in his tractor, I was not letting the opportunity pass though as I have wanted permission there for a couple of years. So I sprinted down the field along a track for about half a mile lol.

By the time I reached him I must have looked like something out of a horror movie. After a good chat he allowed me permission to detect there and we talked about the history of the land. In the past it bordered a railway track, was a Victorian race course, had army training and was then a grass runway for a while.

Anyway I excitedly started detecting there and got a few nice finds, one being a possible aircraft dial which I could do with an id on. I also had a nice military button and some other stuff. Please check out the video as I have put some good still pics on it for the identification.

Metal detecting UK, triple silver day

Well after yesterdays gold ring I was chomping at the bit to get back out metal detecting again. However I'm off on holiday tomorrow and I'm supposed to be packing and getting everything ready, so waiting for the evening tide back at the river Humber was a no-no.

So I ended up settling for a couple of hours at my pasture permission. What a difference a day makes, yesterday was calm with zero wind, today it was blowing a right hooly.

Anyway, I set up the makro racer to my usual settings for pasture which are three tones, gain 90, id filter 25, ground balanced and the rest as it comes from the factory.

It was a very productive couple of hours with a nice key and also triple silvers in the shape of a thimble and also a spoon and American quarter dollar. A nice holed token and a few coins were also recovered.

Finally some more gold, metal detecting at the river Humber.

Hey all,
I got out metal detecting again today although I nearly cancelled it as an hour before I planned to go the heavens opened and it started raining. I thought I would give it a go anyway and packed my emergency metal detector water proofs (sandwich bags) and headed out the door.

Today's location was Hessle foreshore next to the Humber bridge, an area where I have had lots of nice finds in the past. For a change the wind was non existent and the rain was only light and occasional so I felt quite optimistic of my chances.

The finds were pretty sparse today which is very unusual for the area I was detecting as there is usually loads of modern clad coins. A thick layer of slimey silt was covering everything including all the iron that there so it was pretty hard to separate all of the signals the detector was giving.

I used the Makro racer in its beach mode due to the high mineralisation that there is down there, I also had to lower the gain to 60 and everything else I kept as it comes from the factory.

I won't spoil the video that I put together of the outing but let's just say that I have finally after a long drought hit gold and an absolute beauty at that.

A few coins and things off deep pasture with the makro racer metal detector.

Hello world, it has been quite sometime since I last managed to sneak a couple of hours detecting time in. Today though I packed my metal detector into the car and hit my local pasture permission.

The ground was quite we after all the rain we have had over the weekend whiched made all the difference as the last few attempts of detecting there have been difficult with how hard the ground was.

I used the makro racer metal detector set with three tones, gain 95, id filter set to 25 and the rest as it comes from the factory.

I made a few coin finds and also got some bullet cases and other bits and pieces. All in all it was great to be out and about in the fresh air especially since it has been so long.

Here is the link to the video which I finally got to use my new video editing software on. Let me know what you think and don't forget to hit the subscribe button :)
